King Edgar of England (959-75) refounded the abbey of New Minster in Winchester in 966. This image is the frontispiece of a manuscript containing the refoundation charter and other texts praising Edgar’s actions, compiled between the second half of the tenth century and the first quarter of the thirteenth century.
