R. Sheridan, The Genuine Speech of Mr Sheridan, delivered to the House of Commons on a charge of High Crimes and Misdemeanours against Warren Hastings, Esq. Late Governor General of Bengal for Extortion, Perfidy, and Cruelty to the Princesses and other Branches of the Royal Family of Oude. Faithfully Reported (1787).
These are extracts from Sheridan’s speech in favourof impeaching Hastings as Governor-General of Bengal, delivered to the House of Commons on 7 April 1787. The speech was viewed by Sheridan's contemporaries as one of the greatest examples of parliamentary oratory.
